Thumbelina, the squirrel, may just be the most pampered rodent on Earth. "She just does not think she's a squirrel," Christina, Thumbelina's "mom," told Dodo. As an Eastern Grey Squirrel in New York, her mother was killed in a nearby construction site, and wildlife rescuers adopted her.
"We knew pretty soon that there was just something different about her. She likes to walk on the floor. She doesn't really like to jump. She does not like the cold. She won't even go sit by the window if it's cold out," Christina said.
Now, Thumbelina has fully embraced the human life. She makes her own bed every night, loves to cuddle, and especially enjoys unpacking the groceries. "Every time we come home with groceries, she knows something is in there for her. So she will make a point to go through every single bag," Christina said.
