There have always been certain unassailable truths about the world, but lately they seem to be breaking down.
One of those truths is that bees are yellow and black, right? From bumbles to honeybees, regardless of the category, a bee is yellow.

So color me confused when I saw pics of a blue bee trending online.

Nope. There is, in fact, more than one color for bees to come in and one of those is blue.

Blue carpenter bees are apparently common in Southeast Asia, India, and China.

For which I am very jealous.
If the carpenter bees that live in my porch were blue, I might like them more.
(I do like them in my garden, just not living in my very old porch.)

Like other bees in their family, they burrow in hard wood or bamboo rather that living in hives.
They tend to live alone or in small social groups of moms and their daughters.
Blue carpenter bees are quite large, averaging almost an inch in size.

That doesn't seem like much in comparison to the rest of the world, but that's huge for a bee.
These are great little pollinators for open-faced flowers, too.
