Dogs are wonderful creatures. They are the one animal in the world that can make you feel wanted from the moment that you step in through the front door. They sense your feelings and they know exactly how to curl up next to you to make you feel better. With their boundless energy, sloppy kisses and insatiable need to show you how much they love you, pooches spoil us every single day. So, why not return the favor?
I’m not suggesting you start giving your dog sloppy kisses, but there are ways that you can show your dog just how much you love them, and that starts with a little bit of pampering. Spoiling your dog isn’t just for them either, it’s for you. So that you know that you are showing your dog the same love he is showing you.
- Make New Friends. Dogs love to play, right? When you’re on your morning walk in the park, it’s likely they get excited seeing their regular doggy friends. So, why not set up a doggy pay date with a friend who also has a dog. Bring toys and make it a long one so that your dogs can bond and play together. Bring some water, too, so that your dog doesn't get too exhausted with all the running around.
- Spa Day. Giving your dog a bath may just be the messiest job if your dog is the energetic type, but when you do it, you could accompany it with affordable dog grooming so that their nails are trimmed and their fur is as sleek as possible. A bath and brushing at the right pet salon can make your dog feel calm and loved, especially as most pet groomers include treats and interaction with other dogs.
- Create Space. Do you work from home? Well, it’s not nice to send the dog away from you because you have to work, so instead why not create a space for your dog right next to you when you work? Add a bed, water, toys and some yummy bones and let them ‘work’ next to you. Dogs love to be close by to us, and this is the perfect way to let him feel wanted and included.
- Hand Out Hugs. Before you collapse onto the sofa after a long day of work, get on your knees and love on your dog. Pamper them with reassurances that you missed them, hug them, have a play with them to let them know that you’re happy to see them, too.
- New Toys. Treats are good, but the last thing that you want is an overweight pup in the house. Swap food treats for toys, instead, and watch your dog go nuts for their best new toy! They’ll be so grateful and you would have added to their awesome new collection.
Taking the time to love your dog is important; they are there for you no matter what, and there are no conditions with their love.
