International Homeless Animals Day was created in 1992 by the International Society for Animal Rights
to bring awareness to the many cats and dogs living on the streets or
in shelters, and to get them into loving homes. Organizations in all 50
states and across six continents have started holding events for
International Homeless Animals Day on August 17th, saving countless
animal lives and vastly improving the lives of the many humans who get
to take in a furry, feathered, or scaled new member of the family. The
following organizations and individuals keep the spirit of International
Homeless Animals Day with them every day of the year.
