Genius Hacks While Traveling with Your Dog

Our furry friends are very important part of our family and taking a trip without them is very hard. So, here are some life saving hacks you can try traveling with your pups.

Genius Hacks That Won’t Make A Dog’s Dinner Out Of Traveling With Your Pooch

When wanderlust hits, you’ve got to answer the call and book a flight. Otherwise, you’d spend the majority of the year working and that’s no life! The pet owners among you, although excited about an impromptu vacation, will stiffen a little. You want to get away but you have pets to worry about and bringing them along for the ride isn’t an option. They bark, they get overly excited, and they require a lot of your time. It’s almost not a holiday with a pooch on the plane.

But, what if this didn’t have to be the case? What if you could make the trip as hassle-free as possible? Here’s what you need to know.

Get The Lowdown On Airline Regulations

Airlines aren’t as pet-friendly as the average person. They want to make money and they don’t want to disturb other passengers which means dogs are a no go. But, where there is a will there's a way, so don’t give up too soon. Emotional support animals are allowed to travel, for instance, as long as you can prove they are necessary. This is pretty easy to do if you say you suffer from anxiety or hate flying. Do your due diligence and speak to the airline before flying to get the lowdown on their T’s & C’s.

Fit A Diaper

Animals don’t need diapers because they go in a bush or a small patch of grass near the side of the street. While this is fair game at home, there isn’t either in a car on the road to nowhere, and the last thing you want is an “accident.” You’ll never get the smell out of the seats! A belly band for dogs is here to help. As a glorified diaper, it soaks up wetness so that you don’t have to stop. You’ll need to pull over if your pooch has to go number two, but they aren’t as frequent as number ones.

Pack Them

There is nothing as awkward as trying to navigate a busy airport or train station with a dog. Not only is the animal tricky to control, but the leash is cumbersome and gets in the way. Before long, you, your dog and a stranger are tied up in knots for everyone else’s amusement. A pet travel carrier eliminates the awkwardness and makes walking through a busy terminal pretty simple. The dog sits inside while you wheel it along – what could be easier?

Bring Cleaning Supplies

Even the most dutiful of dogs make mistakes. It’s even more common on vacation because they are in unfamiliar territory and they panic. Then, there are the ones that are chilled yet still manage to make a mess by leaving fur everywhere. You love your pet but you can’t afford the hotel’s extortionate cleaning fee. With that in mind, be sure to pack supplies so that you can tidy up before you check out. A squeegee is an incredible tool for sweeping up after your canine.

If all else fails, there are dog sitters who will take care of your pet. That way, they don’t have to go through the turmoil.
